40 Years of Compassionate Care

Celebrate four decades of exceptional hospice care with The Hospice of Baton Rouge, the city's first and only non-profit hospice provider. 1984

The Hospice Foundation of Greater Baton Rouge was established by Mr. Don Berlin, Dr. David Lion, and Dr. David Kahn, marking the beginning of our journey.

1989

The Hospice of Baton Rouge expands its services to include pediatric care for terminally ill children.

2005

The opening of The Butterfly Wing®, the area's first inpatient unit, solidified our commitment to compassionate end-of-life care.

2007

The Hospice of Baton Rouge acquired land for what would later become The Retreat at Quarters Lake, an all-inclusive and comprehensive grief center for the Greater Baton Rouge area.

2010

The Butterfly Wing® relocated to Baton Rouge General - Midcity, enhancing our capacity to deliver exceptional care to the community.

2016

The creation of Palliative Care of Baton Rouge broadened our scope of comprehensive care in the Baton Rouge community.

2017

Camp Conquer was launched, offering a grief support camp for children affected by the Great Flood of 2016. Camp Conquer continues today, and has grown to two yearly Summer camp sessions for the bereaved children of Baton Rouge

2018

The establishment of Apothecare Pharmacy marked a significant milestone in our commitment to comprehensive care.

2019

The Hospice of Baton Rouge proudly hosted the first Palliative Care Conference in Baton Rouge, showcasing our dedication to advancing patient-centered support, alongside the official commencement of prescription services by Apothecare Pharmacy, for our patients.

2023

We celebrated significant milestones, including the founding of Louisiana Medical Equipment and the groundbreaking ceremony for The Retreat at Quarters Lake. Additionally, we launched The Spritz, an evening benefiting The Retreat at Quarters Lake, reaffirming our commitment to the community.

2024

The Retreat at Quarters Lake, our dedicated grief center for the Baton Rouge community, will officially open its doors in Winter 2024.
