Patient Programs

Improving the Quality of Care of Your Loved One

The Hospice of Baton Rouge provides complimentary patient care programs aligned with its mission to offer end-of-life care with dignity and respect. These distinctive programs aim to assist caregivers and patients who are veterans, pet owners, or seeking to plan ahead.

We Honor Veterans

The Hospice of Baton Rouge is committed to serving those who served our nation. Veterans often face unique challenges at the end of life. We Honor Veterans®, a program by the National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the Department of Veterans Affairs, empowers hospice professionals to address these needs.

Our Team Understands
We believe in giving veterans the hero's welcome they deserve, even in their final days. Statistics show that a quarter of all deaths in America each year are veterans, many of whom do not receive end-of-life care through the VA health care system. As a We Honor Veterans® - Level 4 Partner, our staff is specially trained to assist veterans at the end of life, understanding their unique challenges.

Pet Peace of Mind

The Hospice of Baton Rouge values the bond between humans and pets, receiving a grant from Pet Peace of Mind® to aid in covering pet care costs during a patient's end-of-life journey. Exclusively available to non-profit hospice agencies, our services include:

  • Pet food and basic supplies delivery
  • Financial and transportation aid for grooming, vaccinations, and more
  • Assistance with boarding, fostering, or adoption

We respect existing patient-veterinarian relationships but also coordinate pet care if no such relationship exists. To request Pet Peace of Mind (PPOM) Services, call 225-767-4673 and ask for the volunteer coordinator.

Our Care Team

Five Wishes® is a user-friendly legal document crafted in everyday language, enabling individuals to outline their preferred care in the event of serious illness. With over 18 million copies in circulation, it's America’s most widely used living will.

Personalized Care, Your Way.
Five Wishes empowers you to articulate your desired treatment if you're incapacitated due to serious illness. Unlike other documents, it addresses your medical, personal, emotional, and spiritual needs. It also facilitates conversations with family and physicians.

To obtain your own Five Wishes document, arrange a group presentation, or seek further details, please contact us at 225-767-4673 or via email at info@hospicebr.org.
